Microsoft Windows CLI GroundRunner Installation

This section will describe the process of installing a OneCloud GroundRunner on a Microsoft Windows environment via the Command Line Interface (CLI).

Installation Steps

Run as Administrator

In the following steps, make sure to start the Windows Command Line interface as an Administrator by right-clicking on cmd.exe and choose Run as Administrator.

  1. Place the GroundRunner installation file in its own directory such as:
    c:\onecloud
  2. Using Windows' default archive utility, unzip the files in the directory created in step #1.

  3. Navigate the directory structure of the decompressed ZIP file and move the following 4 files to the root of the installation directory (e.g., c:\onecloud):

    occli.exe
    ocrunner.exe
    ocrunnermonitor.exe
  4. From the Windows Command Line Interface (cmd.exe), use the following command to install the OneCloud Ground Runner:  

    c:\onecloud\occli.exe install
  5. The installer will ask various questions. Press <enter> to accept the default. See a sample installation below to know what to expect.

  6. Delete the installation files, downloaded ZIP file, leaving only the OneCloud GroundRunner executable directory under the "Common" directory.

Post Installation Steps

Running as a Service

  • Open the Windows Service Manager (services.exe) and find “OneCloud HostRunner” and start the service. Alternatively, start the OneCloud GroundRunner service with the following command:
    sc start ocrunner
  • To stop the OneCloud GroundRunner service, use the Windows Services Manager or use the command:
    sc stop ocrunner

Running as a Foreground Process (log written to console)

  • The OneCloud GroundRunner can be run as a foreground process with the following commands:
    cd c:\onecloud\Contents
    ocrunner.exe
  • To stop the foreground process, press the key sequence:
    <ctrl> <c>

Running as a Foreground Process (log written to logfile)

  • The OneCloud GroundRunner can be run as a foreground process with the following commands:
    cd c:\onecloud\Contents
    ocrunnermonitor.exe
  • To stop the foreground process, press the key sequence:
    <ctrl> <c>

Example Installation Session

The following session demonstrates installing the OneCloud GroundRunner with the following configuration:

  • Accept default installation locations
  • Use the GroundRunner without a proxy
  • Configure the GroundRunner to run as a Windows Service

Uninstall

To remove the OneCloud GroundRunner service simply perform the following steps: 

  1. Stop the OneCloud Service (see instructions above)
  2. Remove the service with the following command:
    occli.exe uninstall
  3. Delete the executable directory.

These instructions assume the OneCloud GroundRunner executable directory is the following:

C:\onecloud\

Always download the latest GroundRunner

If the OneCloud GroundRunner needs to be installed in the future, simply download a new copy from OneCloud and do not use a previously download versions.
